התעניינתי בקדרות עוד מילדותי באנגליה והתפעלתי מיצירותיהם של קדרים, שעבדו לפי מסורות עתיקות באירופה ובמזרח הרחוק.

לאחר מכן עליתי לארץ בשלב די מאוחר בחיים, פיתחתי עניין רב בהיסטוריה ובארכיאולוגיה של האזור הזה.

 גיליתי שכלי החרס העתיקים מקשרים אותי בחוזקה להיסטוריה העתיקה, כך שזה היה עבורי רעיון מובן מאליו לשלב בין שני תחומי עניין אלה.

 

דבר נוסף שמצאתי הוא שהעבודה בחימר ובגלזורה העשויים מאותם חומרים המרכיבים את הסלעים סביבנו, מרתקת אותי. מדהימה אותי היכולת ליצור כלים במו ידיי ואז לשרוף אותם בטמפרטורות גבוהות כדי להפוך אותם לעמידים כסלעים.

I’ve been interested in pottery since my childhood in England, admiring the craft of potters who worked in the traditions of Europe and the Far East. Making aliyah fairly late in life, I developed a great interest in the history and archaeology of this region and found that the ancient pottery here gave a me a strong link to the past. It was an obvious idea to combine these interests. I’ve found that working with pottery is remarkable. Clay and glazes are made from the same substances as the rocks around us, and the ability to create objects with my hands and then fuse them in the kiln at high temperatures to produce pots that are as durable as rock always amazes me          .
